Goldmine - Monthly Database Maintenance
Goldmine just like any other database needs to be maintained on a regular basis. This means at least once a month your database should be re-indexed and packed. This "cleans" up the database and in most cases speeds it up as well. Regular maintenance is a good way to prevent database corruption issues.
Steps Involved:
Ensure the database is closed and nobody is using it.
Backup the entire database BEFORE doing any maintenance.
Use Goldmine's built in maintenance program(s) to perform the maintenance.
For those interested, SBBS offers a monthly Goldmine Maintenance plan for $100. This fee includes a trained SBBS Representative who will login remotely to your system and perform all the steps outlined above during non-working hours (typically between 6PM and Midnight) on your database. If any errors are found, you will be notified.
